Visa Requirements Citizens of Switzerland
Visa requirements for citizens of Switzerland are a set of restrictions imposed by other countries. The rules apply to citizens of Switzerland.
In the year May 2018 the citizens of Switzerland had the privilege of traveling without a visa or getting one on reaching 185 countries and territories across the world.
By this, the Switzerland passport has ranked 5th in terms of the freedom to travel. This has been disclosed by the Henley Passport Index 2018.
Swish citizens’ freedom in EU
Despite Switzerland is not in European Union (EU), Switzerland citizens have the least restrictions when visiting within the regions of EU.
A Switzerland citizen having a passport from their government can visit the following countries without having to get a visa beforehand:
Austria, Bulgaria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, |Finland, Estonia, Germany France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Luxembourg, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Sweden, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

The following countries entertain enforce visa requirements for Swiss citizens for three months.

Antigua and Barbuda, Albania, Barbados, Bosnia and Herzegovina Bangladesh, Botswana, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Guyana, Guatemala, Argentina, El Salvador, Hong Kong, Honduras, Kenya (fee payable for visa on arrival $50), Malaysia, Kuwait (fee pay for visa on arrival $50), Morocco, Moldova, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Nicaragua (fee payable for visa on arrival $10), Paraguay, New Zealand, Serbia, Namibia Venezuela, Ukraine, Uruguay and Zambia (fee payable for visa on arrival $50).
Countries that permit Swiss citizens’ visa-free entry (or visa on arrival) for one month
These countries offer citizens of Switzerland for one month:
Belize, Egypt(fee payable for visa on arrival $15), Lebanon, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia (fee payable for visa on arrival $25).
Other countries – Other countries enforce visa requirements for Swiss citizens for varying time intervals. These include Dominica and Philippines (21 days), Brunei, and Bahrain (fee payable for visa on arrival BHD5), the entry with no requirement of visa (14 days).
ESTA
ESTA is an application system applicable to all travelers from countries under the Visa Waiver Program. Switzerland is under the visa waiver program. The program permits Switzerland citizens to travel to the United States without a visa.
However, with increased security issues, it has been made mandatory for all to apply for Travel Authorization (ESTA) beforehand.
Be aware that Travel Authorization is not equivalent to a visa. Be warned not to apply for it if you do not belong to a country that is not under the Visa Waiver Program.
All Switzerland citizens intending to visit the United States by sea or air as per rules must get ESTA approval.
Even children and infants of visiting or making the transition to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program must possess ESTA approval.
