Do Columbian citizens need eVisa to Srilanka?

If you are a holder of the Columbian passport and planning a journey to Sri Lanka, you are obliged to apply for eVisa in advance.

In January 2012 government of Sri Lanka has introduced the electronic travel authorization system.

From this date, tourists do not have to waste time by having an appointment in the embassy and going through all procedures.

Now you can use this time to plan your trip in every single detail carefully. There are only three nationalities that do not need eTA when traveling Sri Lanka. These are Singapore, Maldives, and

Seychelles, and unfortunately, as we can see, Columbia is not on the list so, Srilanka visa so they have to apply for eTA.

Depending on the purpose of your stay, the electronic visa entitles your stay in the country for 30 days or two days in case of the transit trip. Submitting the application is simple, intuitive, and it takes just a few minutes.

The most recommended website to apply is eTA to Sri Lanka. The application form is short, and you need to fill out the information such as your name, surname, passport details, planned date of departure, type of visit, marital status. Moreover, a scan of your bio-data passport page will be required.

After that, the applicant can move to the last step – payment, which can be completed with a credit card or in any other suitable method of payment like PayPal.

Which type of eTA Sri Lanka do I need?

While completing the application form, you will be asked of the purpose of your stay, and the applicant has to choose one of the available types:

  • tourist,
  • business,
  • transit.

If you are going on holiday, you should pick the tourist eTA, which is a double-entry, and allows for a stay up to 30 days.

There are two important details regarding this electronic travel authorization, validity for 180 days from the date of issue, and second entry should happen in 30 days from the entry date.

If you are going to find some business partners or have a business meeting, you need to choose a business eVisa which is valid for half a year and also allows for a month’s stay but with multiple entries with maximum 30 days stay of each entry.

The government of Sri Lanka has also prepared one more type of electronic travel authorization – transit visa and its validity remains the same as other types – six months from the date of issue but allows two days to stay in Srilanka.

When our application is completed correctly, and the payment is made, we just have to wait for the e-mail with confirmation of submission and approved eVisa.

As it is electronic travel authorization, there is no need to print it out. On arrival, all you need to do is to have a valid passport to which our eTA, is assigned to.
